Are You a Freehold Idol?

Downtown Freehold is now accepting applications for the 2011 Freehold Idol auditions. Singers age 10 years and older will get a chance to show off their talent in the fourth annual singing contest. Each week, the singers are judged and the best performers move to a final round. The top three vocalists receive prizes. The performances will begin Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Hall of Records and continue every week through Wednesday, Aug. 10. The finales will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17 and Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Government Meetings

The Freehold Borough Recreation Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall on Tuesday.

Schools

The Freehold Regional High School District will continue its Teen Driver Safety Program with a presentation for parents at Howell High School at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. An additional presentation will be held this week at Freehold Township High School on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Juniors and their parents are required to attend one of the sessions held at the district’s high school throughout March in order to receive a student parking spot for the 2011-2012 school year.

High School Sports

Freehold Township varsity and junior varsity baseball and softball teams play scrimmage games against Wall at home at 4 p.m.; the freshman teams play Wall away at that time. Lady Patriots junior varsity lacrosse plays a scrimmage game away at Holmdel at 4 p.m., while varsity takes the field at 5:30 p.m.
