The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of rain Thursday. The high today will be 47 degrees and the overnight low will be 35.

Back in Black ’n Gold Concert

Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School will hold its Fourth Annual Back in Black ’n Gold Benefit Concert on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the school gym. The concert will feature eighth grade students in the school’s advanced performance classes. Tickets are $5 and proceeds will go to the Graeme Preston Foundation for Life.

Freehold Public Library

The Freehold Public Library will hold its weekly preschool story time at 10 a.m. Thursday. Preschoolers and a parent or guardian are invited to enjoy a story and participate in a craft. Registration is required, so call the library at 732-462-5135 to sign up.

The Friends of the Library will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m.

High Schools

Patriots softball will play their last scrimmage game at home against Brick at 3:45 p.m. Thursday. The spring sports season starts for the Patriots and Colonials Friday.

Freehold High School holds its Battle of the Classes Thursday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door.

Planning Your Weekend

The Freehold Borough Board of Health is holding a free rabies clinic at the firehouse on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is open to all, not just borough residents. Dogs must be leashed, and cats must be in carriers.

Battleview Orchards will hold a pruning demonstration on Saturday. Scott Applegate, orchard manager and co-owner of Battleview Orchards, will demonstrate basic growing and pruning techniques. These tips will set you on your way to growing bigger and better fruit. Registration will be at 12:30 p.m. and the demonstration will start at 1 p.m. Door prizes and refreshments will be available after the demonstration.

The Covenhoven House will hold open hearth cooking demonstrations on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Observe 18th century-style cooking and experience colonial life as you tour the landmark house built in 1752.

St. Rose of Lima will hold a blood drive in the school cafeteria on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by the St. Rose of Lima Faith Community Nurses Ministry. For questions or to schedule your donation appointment please contact Nelia Doropan at 732‐780‐2021.

Plan a camping trip close to home! Turkey Swamp Park’s family campgrounds open Friday. The cost of tent and trailer sites are $32 a night for county residents and $36 a night for non-residents. Of the 64 camp sites, 52 can be reserved and 12 are available on a first come, first serve basis. The two cabins on the campgrounds are available for $55 a night for county residents and $65 for non-residents. A two-night minimum is required for cabin rentals.
