Catena School Needs Volunteers for Dawn's Hope

Joseph J. Catena School fourth and fifth grades and their families are needed to volunteer for a worthy cause. A Catena family member is battling cancer and a foundation, Dawn’s Hope, has been formed to help the family during this difficult time.

On Saturday, June 4, Dawn’s Hope organizers will sell Girl Scout cookies at the third annual Nomad Lacrosse All Star Tournament at the Manalapan Recreation Center at 120 Freehold Road, Manalapan. Volunteers are needed for the following shifts: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to volunteers, the organization also needs individuals to loan coolers, radio flyer wagons, tents and tables.

The Freehold First Aid & Emergency Squad’s annual fund drive will begin during the month of June. Get a jump start and make your donation today to the volunteer squad online or by mailing a check to 18 Spring St.

Since 1941, the Freehold First Aid & Emergency Squad has been providing free emergency ambulance service to local residents. The squad is funded primarily through public donations.

The Monmouth County Library is holding a contest for the design of its new logo. Students ages 14 to 22 are invited to participate, and the winning artist will receive a $500 prize. The new logo will be used on the library Web site, letterhead, fliers and other documents.

The contest will begin June 1 and close Sept. 1.
