Celebrate Pi Day With Pizza

A list of five things you need to know the week of Monday, March 14.

Weather

Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 45 degrees and a low of 31, according to the National Weather Service. We shouldn’t see any extreme weather this week. Rain is possible Wednesday and Friday.

Pi Day Celebration

Monday, March 14 is Pi Day. (Pi is the mathematical symbol that begins 3.14.) To celebrate, the Freehold Public Library will hold a pizza party for the Teen Library Committee and middle school and high school students who wish to attend. There will be other Pi-themed snacks and games. Call Kathy Mulholland at 732-462-5135 by noon to RSVP.

High School Sports

The Colonials varsity and junior varsity baseball and softball teams will play scrimmage games away at Jackson Liberty on Monday at 3:45 p.m. The freshman baseball team will play Jackson Liberty at home at 3:45 p.m. The Patriots varsity and junior varsity baseball teams face Brick Memorial away on Monday at 4 p.m., while the freshman team plays them at home.

On Tuesday, March 15 at 4 p.m., Freehold Township High School varsity and junior varsity baseball and softball teams play scrimmage games against Wall; the freshman teams play Wall away at that time. Lady Patriots junior varsity lacrosse plays a scrimmage game away at Holmdel at 4 p.m., while varsity takes the field at 5:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 16 at 3:45 p.m., the Freehold High School varsity and junior varsity baseball and softball teams play scrimmage games against Keansburg at home.

The Colonials junior varsity and varsity baseball teams take on Wall away on Thursday, March 17 at 3:45 p.m., while the freshman face them at home. At 4 p.m., the Patriots varsity and junior varsity baseball teams play scrimmage games at home against Manasquan, while the freshman team face them away. Patriots varsity lacrosse takes on St. Rose at 4 p.m. Thursday and the junior varsity team plays at 5:15 p.m.

On Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m., Patriots varsity and junior varsity baseball play scrimmage games at South Plainfield, while the freshman team takes on South Plainfield at home. Meanwhile, Lady Patriots varsity and junior varsity softball teams face Toms River East away at 4 p.m. and the freshman team plays them at home. Girls varsity lacrosse takes the field against West Windsor North at home at 4 p.m., while junior varsity plays at 5:15 p.m.

Government Meetings

The Freehold Township Youth Guidance Council will meet on Monday at 6:45 p.m. In addition, the Freehold Borough Board of Education will hold meeting at 7 p.m. at the Park Avenue Complex.

On Wednesday, the Lake Topanemus Commission meets at Borough Hall at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, the Freehold Borough Shade Tree Commission meets at Borough Hall at 6:30 p.m., and the Freehold Township Planning Board meets at Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
