Chipotle Donating Unused Food to FPC's Outreach Efforts

Thunderstorms and rain are possible Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The high for the day will be near 85 and the overnight low will be 61.

Chipotle, FPC Assisting Needy

The First Presbyterian Church’s Mission & Outreach Ministry is able to collect more unused food for the needy thanks to the new . The restaurant has invited the group to pick up leftovers two mornings a week to help feed the poor. The Chipotle chain participates in Food Donation Connection’s Harvest Program.

Youth Police Academy

The Freehold Borough Police Department is accepting applications for the 2011 Youth Police Academy. The program will run from Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 29.

Children ages 12 to 16 years of age are eligible to attend, and 25 to 30 slots will be available. Borough residents will be given first priority, though some outside spots will be set aside.

The program will simulate a real-life police academy. "Recruits" will attend courses in Freehold Borough Police Headquarters.  The courses range from criminal investigation to arrest, search and seizure to realistic incident scenario training.

Meetings

The Freehold Township Committee will meet at Town Hall Tuesday at 8 p.m. The governing body will vote on the 2011 budget.

The Freehold Township Board of Education meets at the Board Office at 8 p.m.

High School Sports

Patriots baseball plays St. John Vianney at home Tuesday at 4 p.m. Softball will take on Middletown North away at 4 p.m. in the first round of the state tournament.

Colonials baseball takes on Lakewood away at 3:45 p.m. Girls track will compete at home against Long Branch at 4 p.m.
