Feast of the Giglio Rescheduled

Weather

Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 81 degrees and an overnight low of 60, according to the National Weather Service.

The Feast of the Giglio was cut short last week because of Hurricane Irene, however the festivities have been rescheduled. The event will continue at the parking lot on Friday, Sept. 2 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 3 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 4 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A procession will take place on Main Street at 6 p.m. on Friday. The dancing of the giglio, which involves 75 to 100 men lifting a five-story tall wooden structure, will take place Sunday at 1 p.m.

Meetings

The Freehold Township Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the board administration building, 384 W. Main St.

Storytime & Craft

will host its storytime and craft program on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the children’s department. The featured story is Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobed Kina.

Generators at Sears

If you or a friend or neighbor is still without power, expects a shipment of generators to arrive by Tuesday morning, according to Freehold Raceway Mall’s Facebook page.
