Freehold Area Running Club Summer Races

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. The high for the day will be near 82 and the overnight low will be 69.

The Freehold Area Running Club’s Summer 5K Race Series begins Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Battlefield State Park in Manalapan. Registration begins at 5:45 p.m., and features a 5K, mile splits, a mile fun run, and kids races. The cost to race is $3 for club members, $1 for students, and $5 for others.

If you can make tonight’s race, don’t worry. The summer series races take place every Wednesday through July 27.

Singers from around the state will get a chance to show off their vocal abilities in Freehold Idol. The fourth round takes place Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Hall of Records Building. In the event of inclement weather, Freehold Idol will move into the American Hotel.

The Freehold Municipal Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse will hold the Ray Kershaw Memorial Golf Outing on Monday, June 27 at Battleground Country Club in Manalapan. The cost to play in the golf outing is $150, with proceeds benefitting the Municipal Alliance in its efforts to educate and raise awareness of substance abuse. The Freehold Borough Planning Board will meet at Borough Hall at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Freehold Township Board of Parks & Recreation meets at the Michael J. Tighe Park activity center at 7:30 p.m.
