Freehold Borough Little League Reunion and Parade

Weather

Friday will be cloudy with a chance of rain after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The day’s high will be near 51 degrees and the overnight low will be around 39.

Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 55 degrees and a low of 46. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 65 and a low around 51 degrees.

Little League Anniversary

Freehold Borough Little League will celebrate its 60th anniversary starting Friday night with a reunion at the American Legion from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Players, managers, coaches, past officers, former board members, and anyone that had anything to do with the league over the years is invited to attend. There is a $10 donation and tickets are available before the event at Joe's Barber Shop.

On Saturday, the league will hold its opening day parade starting from the Railroad Plaza Parking Lot at 9 a.m.

Players, managers, coaches and anyone else wanting to march should be there by 8:45 a.m. Players must wear their uniforms. The parade will march down Main St. to Center St. then to the Freehold Borough Little League Complex located on Otterson St. A short opening day ceremony will take place.

The league will supply transportation for alumni who want to march in the parade. The rain date is Sunday with the parade beginning at 1 p.m.

High School Sports

The Colonials will take the show on the road on Friday at 3:45 p.m., with softball taking on Colts Neck, boys tennis plays Monmouth Regional, and boys volleyball competes against Marlboro. On Saturday, Colonials boys track will head to the Husky Relays in Matawan.

Patriots baseball and softball will take on Manalapan away at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Boys lacrosse will play Marlboro away at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, Patriots boys track will compete in the Metuchen Relays at 8:30 a.m. and girls track will head to the Cougar Relays in Cranford at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., the softball team will play Pinelands Regional away.

Fish Fry

The Freehold Elks Lodge will hold a fish fry with fried or broiled flounder, fried shrimp, and a landlubber choice. The meals will be served with soup, salad and sides. There will also be coffee, tea and dessert. The price is $12 for adults and $7 for children 12 years of age and under.

Green Thumb Family Event

Wemrock Orchards is holding a Green Thumb Family Event on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Music will be provided by Thunder 106.3FM, and there will be special appearance by Truman the dragon from Kidsville News. Master gardeners will be in site to help kids with a complimentary gardening craft. Attendees will have a chance to win family four packs to see Sesame Street’s live Elmo’s Green Thumb show. Samples will provide by Wemrock Orchards’ vendors as well as the store’s pies, donuts and apple cider.
