Get Out: Dogs for Dystonia, Vegan Cooking, Auto Show

Find out where the fun is at in Monmouth County this weekend.

When & where:  Sunday, Oct. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. at in Freehold Township

Why you should go: The sixth annual Dogs for Dystonia dog walk raises money for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder that causes muscles to contract involuntarily and the body to twist into irregular postures. The event will feature games and contests for children and dogs, crafts, costumed dog and children photos, vendors, demonstrations, prizes and more.

What does it cost:  $25

Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk

When & where: Saturday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at Sea Girt National Guard Training Center

Why you should go: The Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk is in memory of suicide victims and benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more information.

When & where:  Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Middletown Shopping Center, 1107 Route 35 in Middletown

Why you should go: The sixth annual Auto Show & Motorcycle Meet benefits the NJ Blind Citizens Association. Come view classic cars and motorcycles or show off your own. Trophies and plaques will be awarded to winning vehicles selected by the judges. For more information, visit njbca.org or call 732-291-0878.

What does it cost:  $12 to pre-register a vehicle or $15 registration at the show; public admission is free

When & where:  Friday, Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at , 82 Church St. in Fair Haven

Why you should go: Learn how to prepare soups, appetizers, entrees and desserts using healthy whole foods. RSVP is required. Call 732-741-1219 for more information.

What does it cost:  $40

Running to Rebuild 5K

When & where: Sunday, Oct. 9 at 8:45 a.m. at in Freehold

Why you should go: The second annual Running to Rebuild 5K benefits Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit organization that builds custom homes for disabled veterans, and New Directions, a drug and alcohol addiction recovery home in Walton, NY. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:45 a.m. Visit the Jersey Shore Running Club’s Web site to register.

What does it cost: $25 for adults, $15 for ages 10 to 18, free for children under 10
