Why you should go: Make it a day at the races. Monmouth Park's opening day features an 11-race program with 89 horses.

Why you should go: This town crawl event will celebrate fair trade businesses in Red Bank. (Fair trade is a movement that aims to help working conditions of product producers in developing countries by paying higher prices and requiring safe working environments for those workers.)

Tastings, demonstrations, raffles and discounts will be available at fair trade stores throughout Red Bank. A grand prize valued at $150 will also be raffled off. Sign in at Ten Thousand Villages and pick up a map.

When & where: Saturday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at homes throughout Lincroft
Why you should go: If you like finding a great deal or just love browsing yard sales, this event for you. The community yard sale is sponsored by the Lincroft Village Green Association (LVGA). Each participating home and the items the resident is selling will be included in a booklet available at the LVGA Web site. The booklet, which also includes a map, will also be distributed at the Lincroft Acme and Mike's Barber Shop.

ComEdy Night at Salt Creek GrilleWhen & where: Friday, May 13 at 9 p.m. at the Salt Creek Grille in Rumson
Why you should go: Enjoy comedic performances from John Pizzi and Jack Simmons over one of the restaurant's specialty martinis. A bar menu and cash bar will be available during the event.

Englishtown Street PartyWhen & where: Saturday, May 14 from noon to 5 p.m. on Main St. in Englishtown
Why you should go: Who doesn't like a good, ol' fashioned street fair? The event will feature live entertainment, giveaways, vendors, games, rides, food and more.
