Get Out: Oktoberfest, Witch Walk, Horror Film Fest

Why you should go: The Monmouth County Historical Association will hold a beer tasting fundraiser at the historic Allen House. A selection of beer and local wines will be offered including those from Carton Brewing Company, Trapp Lodge Brewery, and JG's Orchards & Vineyards. An all-you-can-eat buffet will be provided by. Why you should go: Witches (and would-be witches) from across Monmouth are invited to take a tour of Keyport most haunted sites. The event is co-sponsored by Jersey Shore Ghost Tours and The Monmouth County Broom and Brew, a social group for Pagan women. Reservations are requested. Call 732-500-6262 for more information

Why you should go: The Freehold Borough Arts Council’s St. Paddy’s Day-themed film screening packed the American Hotel in March. Now, the organization hopes to spook the masses with a screening of Larry Blamire’s The Lost Skeleton Returns and a Skype session with the director after.

What does it cost: $10 in advance, $12 at the door

When & where:  Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Noreg Lodge, 80 Boundary Road in Marlboro

Why you should go: Mike the Magician will entertain the whole family with a variety of magic tricks. A meal of roast pork, mashed potatoes, green beans and Norwegian desserts will be served. The event is BYOB.

What does it cost: $12

When & where:  Saturday, Oct. 22 at 8:45 a.m. at parking lot B - Bayberry

Why you should go: A Sandy Hook Bird Observatory (SHBO) naturalists will lead a tour of bird watchers in search of seabirds, gulls, late terns and herons, and other local fall surprise.

What does it cost: $20 for non-SHBO members; $15 for SHBO members; $10 for SHBO volunteers
