Get Out: Oyster Festival, New York Polyphony, Plant Swap

When & where: Sunday, Sept. 25 from noon to 7 p.m. in the White Street Parking Lot

Why you should go: Lots of Guinness and fresh oysters in the middle of Downtown Red Bank—what’s not to love? In addition to great food from area restaurants, the second annual Guinness Oyster Festival will also feature bands performing Irish music, blues and rock. The family friendly event will also feature plenty of activities for the kids.

What does it cost: $5 admission

Why you should go: The first performance in the 2011-2012 season of the Downtown Concert Series features male classic vocal quartet New York Polyphony. The group delivers performances ranging from austere medieval melodies to cutting edge contemporary works. Enjoy a rich cultural experience in a historic church known for its impressive acoustics.

When & where: Sunday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the in Holmdel

Why you should go: The Slovak Festival will feature food and craft vendors, live entertainment and activities for children. The event is the third in a series of heritage festivals presented by the Garden State Arts Foundation. Celebrate the tastes, sights and sounds of Slovak culture.

What does it cost: Free to attend

When & where: Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at in Middletown

Why you should go: Attention gardeners: Deep Cut Gardens is hosting its biannual perennial plant swap. Participants may trade perennials and houseplants for the same size and number plants. Bring your perennials in one-quart, one-gallon, and two-gallon containers and send them off to their new home.

What does it cost: Free

When & where: Saturday, Sept. 24 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at in Eatontown

Why you should go: Enjoy a fun-filled day with your friends and neighbors. Eatontown Community Day features local bands, food vendors, community groups and rides. Hop on the Historical Committee Bus Tour or watch a wiffle ball tournament. The event will culminate in an outdoor screening of Despicable Me at 8:30 p.m.
