March in the Freehold St. Paddy's Parade

Throw on your Kelly green clothes, grab your leprechaun paraphernalia and bring your Irish spirit to to be a part of the St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“It may be one of the shortest parades ever, but it is going to be a lot of fun,” said Councilman John Newman at a meeting this month.

The parade will begin sharply at 11:00 a.m. on the morning of March 17.

The parade route will start at borough hall and march down West Main Street. Check out the photo above to see a historic look of the parade route. This photo was posted on the Freehold Public Library’s Facebook page from their photo archives.

Everyone is welcome to march in the parade or just watch and enjoy.

According to Newman’s Facebook page, if you want to march, you should get to borough hall around 10:45 a.m. “Leaving at 11:00 a.m. from Borough Hall sharp! So get there early to decorate and get ready,” he said.

The route also leads to a fun family event: a free showing of the Oscar nominated full-length animated feature, "The Secret of Kells".

The film will be held at the . This free event is sponsored by the Freehold Center Players, the Freehold Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Freehold Borough Arts Council.
