National Weather Service Thunderstorm Watch in Effect

Quarter-sized hail and 60 mph winds are possible.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Monmouth County Sunday afternoon.

According to the NWS, the thunderstorm is capable of producing quarter-sized hail and winds in excess of 60 mph.

“This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds and destructive hail, and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferable inside a strong building but away from windows,” the NWS alert advised.

A severe thunderstorm watch will remain in effect until 9 p.m.
