NJDOT to Resurface Portion of Route 18

The work will be completed on sections of Route 18 in Old Bridge, Colts Neck, Freehold and Marlboro.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface ten miles of Route 18 in Old Bridge, Colts Neck, Freehold and Marlboro, Commissioner James Simpson announced Friday.

"This project exemplifies our commitment to improving our roads and our emphasis on investing in state-of-good-repair projects,” Simpson said in press release issued by the department. “This much-needed resurfacing of Route 18 will improve motorist safety and provide a smoother roadway surface."

Tilcon Inc., a New York-based construction firm, is the NJDOT's contractor on the project. The company is slated to begin closing shoulders on the roadway on Monday, March 7 and a lane will be closed on Route 18 in both directions during off-peak and overnight hours.
