Olde Freehold Day Coming Saturday

Olde Freehold Day will be held at Lake Topanemus Park on Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature live bands, a treasure hunt, a fishing derby, paddleboats and more.

The Monmouth County Fair continues Thursday at 5 p.m. at East Freehold Showgrounds on Kozloski Road in Freehold Township. The event features a variety of rides, vendors, food booths, raffles 4-H exhibits and more. Admission is $7.

Special events Friday include a watermelon seed-spitting contest, a goat show, and a quilting demonstration. Saturday is Bakers Day, when baked goods by Monmouth County residents will be judged; kids races and dog agility demos are also scheduled. Sunday’s activities include the Antique & Classic Car Show, pie-eating contests, and a clown show.

Congregation Kol Am, a reform congregation serving the greater Freehold area, is celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching summer Shabbat services on Fridays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Rabbi Brooks Susman leads the services, which are held at Calgo Gardens in Howell near the Freehold Township border.

The Center Players’ five-week run of the canine comedy Sylvia continues this weekend. The curtains rise at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for seniors and students.
