Power Outages Being Reported in Freehold

At 1:45 p.m. the JCP&L outage map has began to show outages in Freehold Township and Freehold Borough.

While only minimal outages are currently being shown, 74 outages in Freehold Borough and less than five in Freehold Township, residents are advised to perform all necessary storm preparations.

In Freehold Borough, Mayor Nolan Higgins explained that he and Adminstrator Joseph Bellina have reviewed the borough’s readiness for the storm.

“All of our departments are prepared and our staff is on standby for the storm,” explained Higgins. “Two hundred tons of road salt is at our borough public works facility and a tree contractor is on standby if needed.” 

Both Freehold Borough and Freehold Township are in contact with JCP&L. According to an important weather advisory on the JCP&L’s outage map, the possibility of severe weather could cause power outages that last 24-hours or longer.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts wind speeds between 22 and 25 MPH tonight with gusts as high as 40 MPH. In addition to wind speeds, there is an 80-percent change of precipitation which could result in two to four inches of snow.
