Remember the Needy With a Simple Supper

Weather

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a chance of showers after 2 p.m. The high will be near 54 degrees and the overnight low will be 43.

Simple Supper

The members of the St. Vincent DePaul Society will hold a Simple Supper at St. Rose of Lima School on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The meal will consist of only soup and bread in order to raise awareness of the needs of the poor.

The society is asking those who attend the supper in the school cafeteria to donate the amount of money they would usually spend if they were having a complete meal. This money will be used by the St. Vincent DePaul Society to provide assistance to needy families in our community.

Government Meetings

The Freehold Township Shade Tree Commission will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall. The commission will discuss arrangements for the at Durand Park on April 29.

The Freehold Township School District will hold a budget presentation at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School at 7 p.m.

High School Sports

Colonials girls golf will compete against Holmdel away on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., and boys tennis will take on Ocean Township at home at that time. Softball will also be at home, playing Monmouth Regional at 3:45 p.m. in a game rescheduled from Friday. Boys track will compete against Colts Neck away at 3:45 p.m. while girls track will take on the Cougars at home at that time. Boys volleyball will play Long Branch away.

Patriots baseball, softball and boys tennis will play Middletown North at home at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Boys lacrosse will play Howell away at that time.

Leaf & Brush Collection

Freehold Borough is collecting brush now through Friday, April 15. Larger limbs must be cut into four-foot lengths or less. Leaf collection will be from Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 29. Leaves may be left loose behind the curb or placed in clear, open plastic bags. Residents can also bag the leaves and bring them to the Freehold Borough Public Works center at 161 Center St. For more information, call 732 462-4200.
