Rosh Hashanah Services in Freehold

Weather

Wednesday will be cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Thunderstorms may also be possible in the afternoon. The high for the day will be near 74 degrees and the overnight low will be 65.

Rosh Hashanah 2011

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Wednesday and ends at sundown on Friday.

The will light candles at 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday, after 7:24 p.m. on Thursday, and at 6:24 p.m. on Friday. Rosh Hashanah services will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Congregation Kol Am will hold Rosh Hashanah services on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. at Marlboro Middle School. A children and family Rosh Hashanah Service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Marlboro Middle School. Services will also be held at Michael J. Tighe Park on Friday at 11 a.m. Tickets for high holy days services are available at the congregation’s Web site.

Denny Laine, formerly of Wings, will perform at the Legends of Rock concert series in front of the Hall of Records building on Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the American Hotel in the Majestic Concert Hall. Seating is limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Meetings

The Freehold Borough Planning Board meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall. The board will continue hearings on a proposed 7-Eleven facility at 63 E. Main St.

The Freehold Township Board of Parks & Recreation will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Michael J. Tighe Park Activity Center.

Library Logo Contest

The Monmouth County Library System is looking for a new logo and wants area students to help. Monmouth County residents between the ages of 14 and 22 have until Sept. 30 to submit an original design for consideration. Entries should be mailed to Library Logo Contest, c/o Public Relations Office, Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, NJ 07726.
