Slideshow: Freehold Memorial Day Parade Fundraiser

The week in photos in Freehold Township and Freehold Borough.

The Freehold Memorial Day Parade Committee held a fundraiser at The Cabin restaurant on Wednesday evening. Patrons were able to present a flyer to have 10 percent of their bill donated to the parade. The committee has held a series of dine-to-donate events around the area during the past six months. The dining fundraisers complement the family atmosphere on the committee, which is co-chaired by mother-daughter team Alice and Amanda McCobb.

Amanda McCobb joked that she has been on the committee since she was four-years-old and was tapped to take photos during the parade, which at 137 years is the longest-running parade in New Jersey.

“You know you’ve been included in the family when we ask you to do something Memorial Day morning,” Amanda McCobb said.

The committee worked with the Freehold Borough Partnership to craft a three-day dining event May 1 through May 3. Eat at the Court Jester, the Metropolitan Café, Federici’s or the Market Yard Grille, present a flyer and 10 percent of the pre-tax bill will go to the parade. If you eat at three of these restaurants over the three-day period, they will donate an extra 10 percent.

In addition to fundraising events, local businesses have donated to the parade. One of the event’s largest corporate sponsors is Investors Savings Bank, Alice McCobb said.
