I say bring Kruise Nites back! I love Kruise Nite. You can actually move around and talk to people, and of course enjoy the vehicles. Concerts are great, too, but it's not the same thing. I'm very disappointed!

Kruise Night was a Landmark for Freehold. It was enjoyed by all.. It was also a great attraction for the growth and stability of freehold business. I hope that this move wont hurt local businesses. Kruise Night will be missed.......Gerard Poster

Big Mistake....!!....This is going to hurt all the restaurants and shops in Freehold....People from all over N.J, as well as Staten Island would come to Freehold to the Kruise Night....Most people, except a few families...would not make the trip to town for an hour and a half concert..!!....a waste of time....!!...When I lived in N.Y. , myself and 5 or 6 friends would attend at least 3 Kruise nights a year....It was the ONLY event that put Downtown Freehold on the Map.....!!...Big Mistake....!!..Oh well...The Borough's loss.....The Cabin has 2 Cruise nights a months now....so I guess we will spend our money over there......
Team Sheen May 04, 2011 at 05:45 PM
Not a big mistake if it keeps people from the city and stinkin, I mean, Staten island awa y LOL

I think it's a great idea! As a Freehold Borough resident I won't have to deal with the noise and the traffic that were always a part of Kruise Nights. Instead I look forward to grabbing my beach chair and enjoying an evening of music under the stars. Now that's MY idea of a summer night!

Time for change and change is good! Looking forward to something different!

Hey Team Sheen...Most of the residents who now reside in Freehold,Manalapan, and Marlboro, are from that " stinkin " Island......for better or worse......without them half the business' in the borough probably wouldn't exist......I also happen to know.......a Staten Islander owns one of the largest shopping centers in the Borough.....After the first "concert" night....ask the owners, waiters, waitresses, busboys, etc...employed at the borough restaurants which was more profitable for them...????....The concert night will not bring in a quarter of the revenue of the kruise night......once again it's the college student ( waiter, busboy, etc. ) that loses in the end....All for one night of a little noise....unbelievable..

Nothing like a father and son spending time at a concert that the kid has no interest in!
Lisa May 06, 2011 at 06:25 PM
Richard, I believe the Freehold VFW hosts more youthful, up and coming, talented and energetic bands that you and your son may enjoy. The Freehold VFW is on Waterworks Dr., and I think its band series is on Friday nights. I hope that helps you both out!
Jacklyn Corley (Editor) May 06, 2011 at 07:14 PM
Zebu has a lot of younger bands from the area, as well.
Richard May 09, 2011 at 07:08 PM
Yes, thank you.
william eckert May 09, 2011 at 08:25 PM
people will have their opinions...i think getting rid of kruise night is NOT a good idea...ive been going for at least 4 yrs and i loved it its a shame that the town folk complain about the noise...but they like the revenue that all the people bring in............again a shame its gone........but it will be the townships loss
Heidi P May 10, 2011 at 07:17 PM
Why not have them both???
Bobby Clark May 11, 2011 at 08:50 PM
They tried to kill Kruise Night by demanding more police. Then the closing of the motorcycle parking areas. It was just a matter of time before Kruise Night was dropped. The concert series will dry up and Freehold will welcome Kruise Night back in the future.

Not very bright Freehold!!!! What a huge MISTAKE to cancel the very popular Kruise Night. When the local merchants find out how much LESS MONEY they're going to take in on those dumb "Concert Nights", they will welcome the Kruise Night back in 2012... Taking my children to a musical venue that does not interest them, is just no fun. My entire family just LOVED seeing the great Classic Cars and the great food from the many restaurants in the Downtown Freehold area. Spending a summer evening sitting under the stars listening to some boring music... Please shoot me now... Kruise Night is alive with action and great people and great fun... All I can say is "BRING BACK THE KRUISE NIGHTS!"
WAYNE BLAIR May 22, 2011 at 11:57 PM
WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE EVEN THINK OF DOING AWAY WITH KRUISE NITE ?? ARE THESE PEOPLE OUT OF THIER MINDS ???? OKAY. THE RESTAURANTS ARE ALWAYS THERE, AT LEAST FOR NOW. BUT WHAT IS GOING TO BRING THE OUT OF TOWN PEOPLE IN TO SPEND THIER MONEY THERE ? CERTAINLY NOT A SUMMER CONCERT OF A BAND THEY'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF !!!! THE CARS, THE BIKES, THE CLASSIC ROCK, THE WHOLE SETTING THEY'VE PROVIDED ALL THIS TIME, THEY SUDDENLY DECIDE TO DO AWAY WITH BECAUSE OF ONE OR TWO OLD BITTYS COMPLAINING ABOUT NOISE ???? ARE YOU FX4@&ING KIDDING ME ????? FEDERICI'S WILL SURVIVE, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THEM ? WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE !!! WHY WOULD THE HISTRIANS STAND BY AND LET THIS TAKE PLACE ?? KRUISE NITE IS A LANDMARK IN HISTORY FOR THE TOWN OF FREEHOLD. OKAY. HAVE YOUR SUMMER CONCERTS ON THE 2ND THURSDAY. LEAVE KRUISE NITE ALONE !!! I GREW UP IN FREEHOLD. NEWBERRY'S, JOHN'S BARGAIN STORE, MY GRANDPOP WORKED AT THE RUG MILL. I LIVE IN WHITING NOW. THE ONLY THING THAT BRINGS ME BACK INTO TOWN IS THIS KRUISE NITE !!!!! MY MOM, JEANNETTE BLAIR, WOULD BE APPAULD AT THIS MOVEMENT !!!! WAKE UP FREEHOLD !!!!! THIS IS 2011 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lisa May 23, 2011 at 11:57 AM
Jackie, is there a way you can provide all of us with a full calendar listing of area classic car shows? For example, I believe The Cabin has such an event, and there's usually an annual one in Long Branch, as well as during the Monmouth County Fair. I think it would be great to have a full reference for all of us who love these!
Jacklyn Corley (Editor) May 23, 2011 at 01:59 PM
That's an excellent idea, Lisa. I can put something like that together and post it soon.
Karen Smith May 23, 2011 at 03:55 PM
I am happy to see there is a ground swell developing FOR Cruise Night. I remember when nobody wanted to go to downtown Freehold. Cruise Night helped bring life back to Town. I will be at the Freehold Elks enjoying a burger and some fun with my neighbors.
Brian Sullivan May 23, 2011 at 08:46 PM
For people who support Kruise Night and want it ti continue, there isa facebook page called "Save Freehold Kruise Night."
FX May 26, 2011 at 04:17 PM
This sounds like typical elitist, short sighted, myopic stupidity that passes for thinking by some self important, egotistic local official(s). Who needs revenue? These local enterprises can just raise their prices right? Oh wait, I am confusing them with local officials raising taxes to compensate for lost revenue due to wrong headed local policies. A summer concert series with dime a dozen cover bands that can be heard at any bar and club on any night of the year? Hey why not Freehold karioke night! The interest and enthusiasm for eclectic motorcycles and cars coupled with 5ooo, or more people dropping $35, $50, $85 or more-do the math! Hope some other town has the foresite to seize the opportunity and you are rewarded at the next election. Do you think money grows on trees?

When Red Bank needed people to come to their failing town they reached out to the classic car owners for help, the car owners responded by going to Red Bank with their cars, and when Red Bank got back on their feet and started rebuilding Broad St. With state money they kicked out the classic car owners, Freehold has done the exact same thing, now they cater to other groups.
