TELL US: Where Are You Seeing Deer on Monmouth County Roads?

Caution your neighbors on highly populated sections of Monmouth County roads.

This week, the Department of Environmental Protection warned New Jersey residents that with mating season upon us, meaning deer will become more erratic on New Jersey roads.

“White-tailed deer are on the move and unpredictable during this season,” said Division of Fish and Wildlife Director David Chanda. “Deer are much more likely to dart into roads without warning at this time of year. Drivers should be extra alert to avoid collisions that could result in injuries and damage to their vehicles.”

While the Monmouth County Parks System allows hunting on county ground as a means of controlling the deer population, car accidents involving deer are still high in numbers.

"We are not out there hunting just because we want to, we are really seriously trying to manage the deer population," said Karen Livingstone, Public Information Officer for the Monmouth County Parks System.

no, people are out there hunting because they like killing deer. the thought of shooting down an animal gives these hunters a rush. I am sure the deer will understand when they are killed by a bullet is because we are trying to help them

why dont the hunters go pick up the dead deer on the road who innocently cross over the streets. it would be an easy trophy for their pathetic killing souls

Everett Road, Holmdel/Lincroft area. We have requested that an occasional Deer sign warning motorists be installed but none have been. It may be helpful to deter motorists who tend to speed down the straightaway on Everett Road to and from CR520.
