Tornado Watch in Effect for Monmouth
12 counties are under the watch until 5 a.m. Sunday.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for 12 New Jersey counties, including Monmouth.
The alert is in effect until 8 p.m. Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Passaic and Union are also under a tornado watch.
Meanwhile, the bands of heavy rains heralding Hurricane Irene’s approach are expected to continue throughout Saturday night. A flood warning is in effect for Monmouth County until 11:30 p.m.
