Incumbents Prevail in Freehold Races
Kane, Sims and McMorrow hold seats in municipal elections.
It was a big night for incumbents on Election Day this year as the two seats in Freehold Borough and the one in Freehold Township were held by the people in office coming into the night.
In Freehold Borough Kevin Kane and Jaye Sims earned their fifth and third terms respectively. Kane was the overall top vote getter with 1,199 according to unofficial results from Monmouth County. That put him just ahead of Sims who received 1,175 votes. Republican challengers Robert Gibbons and Elizabeth Slade fell short in their bids with 759 and 728 votes on the night.
Freehold Township Mayor Barbara McMorrow more than doubled the vote count of Democratic challenger Ken Sullivan to keep her seat on the committee as well. Unofficial results had McMorrow receiving 5,971 votes compared to 2,938 votes for Sullivan.

The local school board races were uncontested. In Freehold Borough Michele Tennant was the top vote getter with 1,056 votes which put her just ahead of Board President Annette Jordan who received 1,031 votes. With no petitions filed for a one year unexpired term there were 91 write-in votes cast but as of Tuesday night there was no word who received the most in that count.
Finishing at the top of the Freehold Township Board of Education election was Daniel DiBlasio who received 4,736 votes on the night. He was followed closely by Mindy Wille who received 4,658 votes and Vincent Bruno who received 4,550 votes.
