Rogers Holds Early Lead in Boro BOE Write-in Election

Appointed to fill a seat on the board in September.

The results will not be official for a few more weeks but according to the latest numbers from Monmouth County Margaret Rogers has won the race for the one-year unexpired term on the Freehold Borough Board of Education.

Rogers has been serving on the board since being appointed in September and said she was glad that there were enough write-in votes to give her another year at the dais. Unofficial results from the county had 23 votes for Rogers and 11 for James Hurley. Those numbers could change depending on provisional ballots and others still being counted.

After being appointed Rogers said she had wanted to file a petition to be put on the ballot but was unsure if she was going to have the time to commit to the board. Since that time she said she believes she will be able to serve and is looking forward to the chance. “I’ve served the community through the schools in the past so I’m excited to serve the schools at this level now.”
