The National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbiene presents Travelling the Yiddishland

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center and The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County welcomes The National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbiene presents Travelling the Yiddishland on Sunday, February 10 at 3 PM. Tickets are $20 for Museum members, $24 for non-members, and $18 for students.

Created by Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch and performed by his band Litvakus with Michael Alpert, an outstanding Yiddish musician, dancer, and folklorist – it is a musical journey across the routes of the Jewish history in the 20th century Eastern and Central Europe – brought to modern audiences through original videos and live performance in Yiddish, English and Russian, with English supertitles. Please see www.folksbiene.org/yiddishland.html.

This 75-minute multi-media program (without intermission) includes rare Yiddish songs as heard by young generation artists, as well as traditional and original klezmer tunes, documentary footage, and storytelling. Travelling The Yiddishland is culturally relevant for all audiences, as it raises questions of identity, roots, and history. This production is co-sponsored by The Jewish Federation of Monmouth County and The Jewish Community Center of Western Monmouth.
