Movie Viewing & Discussion With Award-Winning Director

On Sunday, March 30, the public is invited to a free viewing of award-winning film Kinyarwanda, followed by a discussion with director and New Jersey native Alrick Brown. In the film, set in Rwanda, a young Tutsi woman and a young Hutu man fall in love amidst chaos; a soldier struggles to foster a greater good while absent from her family; and a priest grapples with his faith in the face of unspeakable horror. On a greater scale, the film presents the classic struggle of good versus evil. The film won numerous awards including a Sundance Film Festival Award.  Brown is committed to "telling the stories of the voiceless."

Brown, who was born in Jamaica but  grew up primarily in Plainfield, NJ, graduated from both Rutgers and New York University; he currently teaches in the graduate program at Tisch Film School. He will discuss his life journey, including his work in the Peace Corp and his current film. To see a trailer of the feature-length movie, view:
