Freehold 2012 Halloween Guide

Make sure you get the most out of this Halloween Season by checking out all of the spooky and fun events that take place in Freehold.

From haunted hayrides, to seasonal contests, to even a Halloween party by DJ Pauly D, Freehold has no shortage of Halloween and Fall activities. Be sure to mark your calendars and clear you schedule for these local events.

Oct 6. – Shop Harvest Supplies and support the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) in Downtown Freehold. Items like mums, Indian corn, hay bales and pumpkins will be on sale. More information can be found here.

Oct. 9 – Artistic students from each of the Freehold Regional High Schools will be competing for honors in the Halloween window-painting contest. The murals will help get Freehold Borough into the Halloween spirit as retail storefronts display local student’s art. The rain date is Oct. 11. Oct. 15 – The annual scarecrow judging contest has a twist this year. All residents and businesses are invited to participate in the scarecrow contest. To register your scarecrow and to have a frame delivered to your door, contact mannyrivera1@comcast.net no later than Oct. 15. The winners will be announced at the end of the Halloween Parade on October 28. For more information visit the scarecrow contest page.

Oct. 20 – The Haunted Hayride has been revamped with a new location and new thrills. From 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 all are invited to go on a haunted adventure on old-fashioned wagons that run through the paths around Lake Topanemus. Think you have what it takes to scare your friends and neighbors? Haunters are needed for the hayride. Oct. 26 The Cemetery Club, Center Players current production will launch their 2012-13 season on Oct. 26 at Freehold’s award-winning resident theater company. For more information visit the event’s Patch listing.

Oct. 27 – Pauly D from MTV’s Jersey Shore will be performing a DJ Pauly D Halloween Bash at the Encore Event Center. For more information about this event visit Encore Event’s website.

Oct. 27 – Jack-O-Lantern judging will take place outside the Hall of Records from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Pumpkins are judged in various categories including best overall for age groups 5 and under, 6 through 9, 10 through 13, 14 through 17, and 18 and over. Oct. 28 – The Costume Contest will be held from noon until 12:45, the Halloween Parade will begin at 1 p.m. In past years, as many as 800 children and adults have showed off their costumes in the parade that marches through Freehold Borough.
