The film festival is the latest incarnation of an event that debuted in October 2010, ran for two years, but was limited to Freehold in Western Monmouth County.

“This year the film festival has been reinvented and expanded to include locations in Asbury Park, Red Bank as well as our original home in Freehold,” said Stan Organek, Chair of the Vision Film Festival Committee. “The Committee also decided to rename the film festival and create a logo to symbolize the vibrancy of Latino culture.”

Angel Matos, Chair of the Latino Coalition Foundation, which is sponsoring the Vision Film Festival, noted that its expansion was inevitable given the growing numbers of Latinos in Monmouth County. “Our goal has always been to share the diverse Latino cultures with the broadest audience possible and build cross-cultural understanding. The films selected by the committee reflect the diversity of visions within the Latino communities of New Jersey and the nation.”

Vision – Latin-American Film Festival 2013 is screening films at the Show Room in Asbury Park, Friday, May 17th at 7 PM; The Center Playhouse in Freehold, Saturday, May 18th at 1PM, 4 PM, and 8 PM; and the Two River Theater in Red Bank, Sunday, May 19th at 1 PM, 4 PM, and 8 PM.  The films include offerings from Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the United States. Admission to all films will by $5 to ensure access to all in the community.

Those interested in attending this year’s screenings are directed to the festival web site www.VisionFilmFest.com. A copy of the viewing program is included with this release.

Sponsorship opportunities with acknowledgement on the festival web site are still available.  Also, ads in the Program Booklet, to be distributed without charge to festival participants, are still available through May 3 as well. Please call Chairman Organek for further information.

The film festival is being presented by The Latino Coalition Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization based in Freehold, New Jersey.  The Latino Coalition Foundation has also sponsored the Latino Festival of Monmouth County in Freehold each year since 2005.
