CentraState Expands Queen Contest to include Kings and Scholarship Prizes

CentraState's annual Queen Contest is new and improved. The contest has been changed to the King/Queen Contest. For the first time, young men can compete in the contest and win scholarships.

CentraState Healthcare Foundation is seeking contestants to participate in its 52nd Celebration Ball King/Queen Contest. The contest is open to young adults at least 16 years of age. The Ball King/Queen Contest is a twist to the tradition that began in 1962, where contestants from the area were encouraged to volunteer by raising money for the hospital.

Last year’s contestants collectively raised over $30,000 for CentraState’s Cancer Navigator Program. The monies were raised in various ways, including community dinners, car washes, and letter solicitations. The contestants also participated in an evening Fashion Show, complete with DJ, runway, gift auction and fabulous fashions. This year, the contest is open to young men and women. All contestants will be challenged to raise money for CentraState’s Women’s Health Center. Each dollar raised will count as one vote. The contestant with the most “votes” will be crowned King or Queen at the Foundation’s annual Celebration Ball on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Encore Event Center in Freehold. Prizes are awarded to the top contestants, including scholarships. A total of $3,500 in scholarships will be distributed.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a contestant, would like to sponsor a contestant, or would like more information, call CentraState Healthcare Foundation at (732) 294-7029. Please call to reserve a seat at the information session scheduled for Thursday, April 18th at the Conference Center Auditorium located in the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus at CentraState.
