Prosecutor's Office Opens $30M Headquarters

Surrounded by dignitaries from around the county and the state as well as people who held his job before him, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni opened the new $30 million headquarters for his department on Thursday morning.

Located on Jerseyville Avenue the office was touted as not only an achievement in workplace efficiency but also an environmental accomplishment for the county. Gramiccioni thanked the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders for making his department's dream a reality.

"This new building brings all the components of the Office under one roof for the first time in our modern history thanks to the generosity do the Monmouth County Freeholders and an attention to detail that makes this building the best of any prosecutor's office in the state," Gramiccioni said.

The new building is a four-story structure with more than 120,000 square feet of space which the prosecutor said is significantly more than the department had across several buildings around the county.

Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone said he believed the residents of the county would see the advantages from the consolidated location. “People cannot tell me that that did not potentially hurt time to respond and make us safer and make Monmouth County a better place and a safer place,” Arnone said. “I think right now we have done that by putting everybody in one building.”

Gramiccioni said the work on the building started nearly five years ago in part because the Monmouth County court system needed more space as did his office. Now that they have their own building Gramiccioni said the work continues to bring most of the department’s employees under one roof. One exception, he said will be the Asbury Park location which he said recently had its resources and personnel doubled.

Along with the efficiencies that come with the new building Gramiccioni said he is also proud that while there is more work to be done, the $30 million project is currently close to $6 million under budget.
