An Important Key in Preventing Low Back Pain

Over 80% of the population suffers with some low back pain.  Most people just put up with it, while others take measures to get it corrected by going to the chiropractor, acupuncturist or just popping medications which at best mask the symptoms.

We all are busy but with daily activities, sitting long periods at desks and computers, carrying purses or briefcases and just the stress or tension build up can lead to back pain.  At night, we go to bed for several hours and all the muscles we have used tighten up.  Many people wake up feeling stiff with tense muscles.

A basic stretching routine can help prevent low back pain.  Stretching can also help you if you are already experiencing pain.  In our office, we analyze patients for muscle tension and imbalances.  By addressing these problems we are able to reduce the pain and get patients back to normal activities.  An important part of the treatment plan is showing patients a home stretching routine.  Just a couple of minutes a day of stretching can be an important step on preventing low back pain.
