Another Cold Front on the Way

The Summer like conditions of this Memorial Day weekend will be coming to an end by the end of this evening as a cold front drops south from Canada with showers and thunderstorms.  The cold front will drive through the region and establish a cool yet unsettled weather pattern for the rest of the week.

Today, clouds will increase  through the day with showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening.  These thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 50 mph, hail, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 70's to lower 80's over Connecticut and Long Island, lower to mid 80's over the New York City metropolitan area, and mid to upper 80's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Showers and thunderstorms can be expected tonight as the cold front drops from north to south throughout the region.  The showers and thunderstorms will produce heavy downpours which will lead to poor visibility and the threat for localized urban flooding.  Winds will veer to the east at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph  towards morning.  Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60's for lows by tomorrow morning.
