Cold Front Ends Brief Humid Invasion

A cold front will drive through the northern Mid Atlantic by tomorrow morning with showers and thunderstorms.

The tropical air mass in place over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas will not have much staying power as a strong cold front will drive through the northern Mid Atlantic by tomorrow morning with showers and thunderstorms.

This afternoon, clouds will increase as a cold front drops southeast from the Great Lakes towards the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.  Isolated showers and thunderstorms will become widespread by the evening rush hour.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 60 mph, frequent lightning, hail, and frequent lightning.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's along the coast and upper 80's to lower 90's throughout the rest of the region.

Tonight, the cold front will slowly drop through the region with widespread showers and strong thunderstorms.  Winds will slowly veer from the southwest to west at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 70's for lows.

Tomorrow, the cold front will exit off the New Jersey coast and east of Long Island by noon with showers lingering through the morning hours.  Clearing skies are expected by tomorrow afternoon.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's for highs.

High pressure will be in control tomorrow night on through Sunday with scattered cloud cover expected.  The high pressure system will feature a Polar air mass through the period.  Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60's.  High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 80's along the coast and mid to upper 80's throughout the rest of the region.

A series of low pressure systems will produce scattered showers on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will range from the upper 60's to lower 70's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.
