Cool Air Mass Invades This Afternoon

Temperatures will average near to slightly below normal for this time of year.

After several days of heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms due to a slow moving cold front, improving weather conditions are on the way as a strong Polar air mass invades the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.

The cold front will slowly push off the coast and to the east of the northern Mid Atlantic  this morning with showers lingering into the early afternoon hours.  These showers will still be capable of producing very heavy downpours.  Skies will clear from west to east this afternoon as high pressure builds into the region.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s for highs.

High pressure will be in control tonight on through Friday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph through the period. Temperatures will average near to slightly below normal for this time of year. Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60s. High temperatures will range from the upper 70s to lower 80s along the coast and lower to mid 80's throughout the rest of the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.
