Dynamic snow storm on the way this evening

A dynamic and powerful snow storm will impact the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas this afternoon through early Wednesday morning with significant snowfall throughout the region.  Strong winds from the north will also lead to visibility falling to near white out conditions while temperatures will fall into the 10's and lower 20's.  Near blizzard conditions can be expected along the New Jersey coast and Long Island as a result.

Snow will develop through the morning hours and become widespread by late this afternoon.  The snow will increase in intensify through the evening.  Meanwhile, winds will increase from the north-northeast at 15 to 30 mph with higher gusts.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 10's over the interior and lower to mid 20's along the coast for high temperatures this afternoon.

Periods of heavy snow can be this evening through early Wednesday morning.  Convective snowfall will be a significant threat leading to white out conditions.  Further, the winds will be from the northwest and north at 15 to 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph.  The combination of the strong winds and fine snow will lead to visibility below a mile at times if not zero visibility.

Arctic high pressure will take hold by tomorrow afternoon with clearing skies.  A weak disturbance will follow on Thursday with scattered snow showers and a period of light snowfall.  High pressure will briefly take hold on Friday with scattered clouds and flurries.  Low temperatures will range from the single digits to mid 10's.  High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 10's over the interior and upper 10's to lower 20's along the coast.

Another Alberta Clipper will follow on Saturday evening into Sunday with more snow showers.  A more organized low pressure will be pulling through the region on Monday with periods of snowfall expected.  Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will range from the lower to mid 10's for lows and lower to mid 20's for highs.
