Hazy, Hot and Stormy Conditions in Place

A tropical air mass with hazy conditions will be in place throughout the region.

While hazy, hot, and humid conditions are in place throughout the Philadelphia and New York City areas this morning; the focus for the next 48 hours will be the threat for strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.  The good news is a far more tranquil and comfortable weather pattern will be in place in time for the weekend once again.

Today through tomorrow, a tropical air mass will be in place with hazy conditions in place throughout the region.  A series of cold fronts will move through the region leading to the threat for showers and strong to severe thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 50 mph, hail, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.  Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the upper 80s to lower 90s for highs.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid 70s for lows and upper 80s to lower 90s for highs.

On Thursday, a cold front will move through the regions with isolated showers and thunderstorms.  The cold front will drop south by Thursday afternoon leading to winds veering to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s for lows and mid to upper 80s for highs.

High pressure will be in control Friday on through Monday with clear skies to scattered clouds.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60s for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.
