High Pressure Fights for Another Weekend

We're in for another weekend of excellent weather conditions.

High pressure shifting from the Great Lakes to the New England coastal waters will once again fight to keep the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas dry and tranquil for this weekend, leading to yet another weekend for this early Summer with excellent weather conditions.

Today on through Sunday, high pressure will shift from the Great Lakes to the New England coastal waters leading to clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  An isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible in the afternoon and evening hours, however most locations will remain dry.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, occasional lightning, and wind gusts over 30 mph.  Winds will veer from the northwest to northeast at 5 to 15 mph as the high pressure system shifts over and east of the forecast area.  Temperatures will remain seasonable.  Lows temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's over the interior and lower to mid 60's along the coast.  High temperatures will range from the upper 70's to lower 80's along the coast and lower to mid 80's throughout the rest of the region.

As high pressure repositions off the East coast by Monday, winds at all levels of the afternoon will veer to the southwest which will transport a hot and humid air mass into the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.  With a more humid and unstable atmosphere, showers and thunderstorms will be a greater risk in the afternoon and evening.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 60's to lower 70's throughout the region, mid 70's in some urban locations.  High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 80's along the immediate coast and mid to upper 80's throughout the rest of the region with high levels of humidity.  The humid conditions will make temperatures fall like the lower to mid 90's.
