Hot and Humid Conditions Return

The cold front will slowly move through the region on Thursday through Friday morning with periods of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms.

As high pressure shifts off the coast today, a southwesterly wind will develop that will transport a hot and humid air mass into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.  The tropical like air mass will not last long though as a cold front will crash through the region just in time to prevent a tropical depression from coming up the coast on Friday.

Today through tomorrow, scattered cloud cover can be expected with isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon becoming widespread by tomorrow afternoon.  The thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 50 mph, frequent lightning, and very heavy downpours.  Most of the thunderstorms will remain below severe levels.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph by tomorrow afternoon.  Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid 70's for lows and upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.

The cold front will slowly move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas on Thursday through Friday morning with periods of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms.  The primary risk  from this cold front passage will be the very heavy rainfall leading to localized flash flooding.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the lower to mid 70's for lows and upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.
