Powerful Cold Front on the Move

The cold front will push off the coast on Friday morning with lingering showers followed by clearing skies from west to east.

A powerful cold front will be on the move over the next 48 hours that will help to produce widespread showers and strong to severe thunderstorms, put an end to a period of hot and humid conditions, and help keep Tropical Storm Arthur at bay and out over the western Atlantic on Thursday night and Friday.

Today through tomorrow, showers and strong to severe thunderstorms will increase in coverage.  These thunderstorms will be capable of very heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 60 mph.  Localized flash and urban flooding will be a threat from the showers and thunderstorms along with poor visibility below 2 miles.  Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.  Temperatures tomorrow will range from the lower to mid 70's for lows and upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.
