An area of low pressure over the central Mississippi River Valley will lift northeast into the Great Lakes through tonight which will force a warm front through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas today followed by a cold front by early tomorrow morning. Raw, cool, and wet conditions can be expected through today, however the weather conditions for this weekend look to be excellent.
Periods of showers can be expected through tonight with overcast skies and drizzle in between the showers. The showers will be capable of localized heavy downpours but most locations can expect around a tenth to a third of an inch of rain today. Winds will be from the east at 10 to 20 mph veering to the southeast by this evening. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40's over the interior and lower to mid 50's along the coast and in urban locations this afternoon for highs.
The showers will linger into the early morning hours tomorrow as the cold front lifts through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas. Skies will clear rapidly by mid morning tomorrow with clear skies to scattered cloud cover expected for tomorrow afternoon on through Sunday. Winds will back to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph by tomorrow morning and subside to 5 to 15 mph by Sunday. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the mid to upper 40's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's for highs. Temperatures on Sunday will range from the mid 30's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's for highs.
