Showers and Thunderstorms a Threat Tuesday Afternoon

A series of disturbances will move through the region Thursday on through Monday.

A weakening cold front will bring the threat for showers and thunderstorms to the region this afternoon, however before the rain starts to fall, temperatures will warm into the 60's and 70's for highs this afternoon.  An active and volatile weather pattern will continue into this weekend and early next week.

A cold front will produce widely scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms over the region this afternoon and evening.  Ahead of the cold front, clouds will increase with winds from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 60's to lower 70's over much of the region, lower to mid 60's along the immediate coast and Long Island for highs this afternoon.  The showers and thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts up to 40 mph, occasional lightning, heavy downpours, and localized urban flooding.

High pressure will take hold late tonight through tomorrow with scattered cloud cover to clear skies expected.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 40's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's for highs.
