Summer-Like Conditions Come To An End

Rain and thunderstorms Tuesday. Cool conditions are on the way for the rest of the week.

Summer like conditions will continue through this afternoon with temperatures over 10 degrees above normal this afternoon with highs in the 70's.  However, the summer like conditions will come to an end with periods of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow.  Cool conditions are on the way for the rest of the week.

Clouds will continue to increase through this afternoon with an isolated shower possible.  Showers and thunderstorms will develop late this evening as a cold front slowly approaches from the west.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 70's over much of the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan area, mid to upper 60's along the immediate coast for highs.

A strong cold front will move through the Philadelphia and New York City area tomorrow with periods of showers and thunderstorms.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, wind gusts up to 40 mph, frequent to occasional lightning, and small hail.  Rainfall amounts will range from a half a inch to an inch of rain with locally higher amounts.  Localized urban flooding is a threat due to the heavy rainfall.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's for highs.

High pressure will take hold by tomorrow night and remain in place through Friday with scattered cloud cover.  A weak disturbance will move through the region on Saturday and Sunday with scattered showers.  Temperatures on Wednesday will range from the mid 30's for lows and upper 40's to lower 50's for highs.  Temperatures on Thursday will range from the mid 30's for lows and mid to upper 50's for highs.  Temperatures on Friday will range from the upper 30's to lower 40's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's for highs.  Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday with lows in the mid 40's and highs in the lower to mid 60's.
