Temperature roller coaster continues

Tranquil conditions will return today as high pressure over the Southeast continue to shift off the coast, transporting a much warmer air mass into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.  However, while the weekend is expected to be pleasant, another storm threat is developing for Monday that will likely lead to some significant travel concerns to start next week.

Today on through tomorrow, high pressure will be in control with scattered cloud cover expected.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph through the forecast period.  Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 40's over the interior and upper 40's to lower 50's along the coast for highs this afternoon.  Tonight, temperatures will fall into the upper 20's to lower 30's over the interior and mid to upper 30's along the coast for lows.  On Saturday, temperatures will range from the upper 40's to lower 50's over the interior, mid to upper 50's over the New York City metropolitan area, and upper 50's to lower 60's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area for highs.

On Saturday night into Sunday morning, a cold front will move through the region with a few isolated rain and snow showers.  No snow fall accumulation is expected.  Scattered clouds can be expected the rest of the day on Sunday.  Winds will veer to the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures on Sunday will range from the upper 20's to lower 30's for lows and upper 30's to lower 40's over the interior and mid 40's along the coast for highs.

An area of low-pressure will move well to the south of the northern Mid Atlantic on Monday with the threat for some light to moderate snowfall.  There is very high volatility for this storm with significant uncertainty with just how much snow, if any, will actually accumulate.  There is a high threat that this storm could miss all together as dry air pushes south from New England.  Temperatures on Monday will range from the mid to upper 20's for lows and upper 20's to lower 30's for highs.

A series of disturbances will pass to the south on Tuesday and Wednesday with variable cloud cover and a few isolated rain and snow showers.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20's for lows and lower to mid 40's for highs.
