Threat for Thunderstorms Return

The threat for isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms will return this afternoon and remain through through this week.

The threat for isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms will return this afternoon and remain through through this week as a tropical air mass builds into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.

Today through tomorrow, high pressure will shift off the Mid Atlantic coast leading to scattered cloud cover and isolated showers and thunderstorms.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 50 mph, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and hail.  Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the mid 80's along the coast and upper 80's to lower 90's in throughout the rest of the region.  Temperatures tomorrow morning will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows.  Temperatures tomorrow afternoon will range from the mid 80's along the coast and upper 80's to lower 90's throughout the rest of the region tomorrow afternoon for highs.

A series of disturbances will move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas Wednesday and Thursday with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 60's to lower 70's throughout the region.  High temperatures will range from the mid 80's along the coast and upper 80's to lower 90's throughout the rest of the region.

High pressure will take hold Friday through Sunday with scattered cloud cover to clear skies expected.  Low temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's.  High temperatures from the lower to mid 80's.
