Weak Disturbances Support Isolated Thunderstorm Threat

A slow-moving cold front combined with a tropical disturbance off the Southeast coast will lead to scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms from Wednesday on through Friday morning.

While high pressure shifts off the coast today leading to a develop southwesterly wind this afternoon, weakening disturbances approaching from the west will keep the isolated shower and thunderstorm threat in the forecast to start the short work week.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be a threat today through tomorrow, otherwise scattered cloud cover can be expected.  The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 40 mph, frequent lightning, and very heavy downpours.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the mid 80's for highs this afternoon.  Tomorrow, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and upper 80's to lower 90's for highs.  The increasing humidity will make temperatures feel like the mid to upper 90's tomorrow afternoon.

High pressure will take hold on Friday afternoon on through Sunday with scattered clouds expected.  Temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs.
