Former Freehold Resident Anna Burcz Dies at 92

Worked as a secretary for Bell Labs.

Anna K. Burcz, 92, of Toms River passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Green Acres Nursing Home, Toms River.  Anna was born, raised and had lived in Jersey City.  She lived in Scotch Plains, Holmdel and Freehold before moving to Toms River in 2007.  

Anna was a secretary for over twenty years at Bell Labs in Holmdel and Freehold until retiring in 1986.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the Women’s Club at the Villages, Freehold.

Anna was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Burcz in 2005 and a brother, Chester Schneider. She is survived by a son, Paul Burcz and his wife, Roberta, of Bay Head; two daughters, Carolyn Messina and her husband, Charles, of Garwood and Joann Kerdock and her husband, Richard, of Island Heights; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Fowler of Leonia.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.   Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 9:00 AM for the procession to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold  for her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.  Interment to follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
