Former Freehold Soccer League Coach Remembered

Services for Robert A. Antonuccio will be held on Friday, March 22 at the Higgins Memorial Home.

Robert A. Antonuccio, 72, of Freehold Township, died Saturday, March 16, at CentraState Medical Center.

Born in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, he lived in Hamilton Township prior to moving to Freehold Township 40 years ago. Antonuccio was a U.S. Army veteran of the National Guard. He was a self-employed tax accountant. Prior to that, he was employed by Sears Roebuck & Co., Philadelphia, PA and Neptune Township, as a controller. 

Antonuccio was a member of the Monmouth Battleground Chorus and the Sounds Familiar Barbershop Quartet. He was also a former coach and supporter of the Freehold Soccer League.

Antonuccio was predeceased by his wife, Joy Ann Antonuccio, in 1992. Surviving are his son, Jeffrey R. Antonuccio of Freehold Township; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristen and Rosario Carannante of Freehold Township, and Aubrey Antonuccio and her husband Julio Montes of Madrid, Spain; his brother, Peter Antonuccio of Bordentown; and his longtime companion, Joann Peate. He was a loving grandfather to Louisa Joy Carannante, and Gabriel and Lucas Montes Antonuccio.

Relatives and friends are invited to come to the Higgins Memorial Home on Friday, March 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Donations in his memory to the American Heart Association , 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691, would be appreciated.
