Former FRHSD Custodian Dies at 76

Cammarata was a custodian at the Freehold Regional High School District before retiring five years ago.

Lydia Stepikura Cammarata, 76, died on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick. Born in New York, she had lived in NJ most of her life.

Before her retirement 5 years ago, Lydia worked as a custodian for Freehold Regional School District for many years. She loved to help her daughter with the costumes for Villagers Theater in Somerset. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River.


She is predeceased by her husband Attillio Patrick Cammarata, her son Joseph Abreu and her brother John Stepikura. Surviving are her daughters Ann Crane and her husband Tim of FL, Anamaria Kalet and her husband Mark of Kendall Park, Justina Cammarata and her husband Darian LeMay of Manalapan, her grandchildren Austin-Joseph, Martin, Darian, Marissa, Joseph, Daniel, Jocelyn, John and 2 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours at the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave South River will be Monday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Panahida services will take place at 7pm on Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lydia's name to the Bristol Myer Squibb Children's Hospital 10 Plum Street, Suite 910, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
