Herbert 'Burt' Crawford, a Freehold Township Resident and Master Plumber, Dies at 84

Crawford's many hobbies included making chess sets, painting, fishing and working on genealogy.

Herbert “Burt” Crawford, 84, of Freehold Township died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  Burt was born in Patchogue, L.I., New York and had lived most of his life in Monmouth County moving to Freehold Township 60  years ago. He was a self-employed master plumber and had worked at Millhurst Mills for the past 20 years. Burt served in the National Guards during the Korean War. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed including, making chess sets, painting, fishing and working on genealogy. 

Burt was predeceased by two brothers and one sister; and a granddaughter, Amanda. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Crawford of Freehold Township; two sons, Tim Crawford and his wife, Karen of Manalapan and Jim Crawford and his wife, Brenda of Toms River; two daughters, Colleen Drewery and her husband, Daryl of Tooele, Utah and Bonnie Kurtz and her husband, Jim, of Erin, Tennessee; a brother, Rodney of Florida; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the funeral home.
